Disconnecting Your Xfinity Voice Remote from TV
When a remote is set up, it will not be able to control a different TV until the pairing connection is broken.
Follow below instructions for xfinity remotes with a Setup button:
- Setup must be pressed and held for three seconds until the status light changes from red to green.
- Put 9-8-1 into the remote control. It displays green twice if it isn’t connected to the TV.
XR15 Xfinity X1 and Flex Voice Remotes without a Setup button utilize the following commands:
- While holding the A (triangle) and D (diamond) buttons at the same time, the status light should change from red to green after three seconds.
- Press 9-8-1 on the remote. Now Comcast xfinity remote has been disconnected from TV if the status light blinks blue twice. Others refer to this as pairing the remote with the TV.

Once you have the remote connected to the new TV Box, you can also connect it to a different television. The original X1 TV Box can still be controlled when aimed directly at it.
