This article will explain how you can make your DVD or Blu-ray player multi-regional or region free. You can play DVDs and Blu-rays from any region. On DVD players, you can change or remove region codes in several ways. With a simple remote code and other types of hacks, you can remove the DVD or Blu-Ray region coding from your player. DVDs and Blu-rays of any region code can be played and watched using these methods. DVDs can be viewed on a computer or laptop using VLC media player.
DVD Player Region Code Removal Hacks
FYI: “Region Free” DVD/Blu-Ray players are available. You can purchase a region free DVD or Blu-Ray player if you do not already own one. The box will explicitly state “REGION FREE”. You can avoid the hassle of hacking your player or entering remote codes for each region by getting a region-free player.
There are five different methods for hacking your Blu-ray player or DVD player to make it region-free:
DVD Region Free Hack Method 1:
(Works with virtually all DVD players)
With no disc in the DVD player, turn it on
The “No Disc” message will appear once you have waited for it
The remote control should be set to PAUSE
The remote control will display the numbers 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9 (CODE or FF appear on the TV)
The Remote should be set to 0 (0 for all regions).
To pause the movie, press the PAUSE button on your remote control
(Wait 30 seconds before turning the DVD player on again)
Turn the DVD player back on
Region-free DVDs will now be available
(If this code doesn’t work, press STOP before entering the code once the “No Disc” message appears.)
DVD Region Free Hack Method 2:
(Works with most Samsung DVD players and other players)
-Power on DVD Player
-Open the DVD tray
-Push the info button on the remote one time
-Numbers will appear
Multi-regional press 9
The number 9 appears in the upper left corner after you keep pressing 9
Disconnect the DVD from the power source
Turn on the DVD
Region-free DVDs will now be available
Method 3 of the DVD free region hack:
(Works with most Sony DVD players and others)
Turn off DVD player, but ensure that it is in stand-by mode
The top menu can be accessed by pressing the top-right button
Press the CLEAR button to stop it
The power button should be pressed
Select option 2
Option 4 is the best choice
Press ENTER after typing 12450
Press ENTER after typing in: 00000
DVD should not be powered on
DVD must be powered on
Region-free DVDs will now be available
DVD Region Free Hack Method 4:
(Compatible with most LG DVD players)
Without a disc in the drive, turn on the DVD player
A message should appear saying “No Disc”
Use the remote control to press “Pause”
To use the remote control, press 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9
There will now be a prompt to enter a new code
The universal code is “0”
Again, press “Pause”
A message should appear saying “No Disc”
Region-free DVDs will now be available
Method 5 of DVD Region Free Hacking:
The Panasonic DVD player and many other DVD players are compatible.
No disk inserted in the player, power it on
Use the remote control to control the player
Then, press each remote button one by one in the following order: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
In this case, the player will reset itself
Region-free DVDs will now be available
On most DVD players, you can check the firmware version by:
Press the SETUP button on the remote control
Choose a TV aspect
Cursor should be placed on 16:9 icon
Use the remote control to enter 1, 3, 9, 7, 1, 3, 9
On the remote control, press ENTER
The version of the firmware will be displayed
Clear the setup by pressing SETUP
