No sound on Netflix – Getting Video But No Audio – How To Fix?

No sound on Netflix

No sound on Netflix. The audio is not working when I try to watch a movie on Netflix. Nothing is playing. Could it be my equipment or Netflix? To watch Netflix, I occasionally use my Roku and Xbox. Would you be able to tell me how to get Netflix to play sound? I have the same problem sometimes when trying to stream from all three devices I mentioned. Videos play, but audio/sound does not.

No sound on Netflix – How To Fix

Streaming directly to the TV with 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound may not be working if your streaming device is connected directly to the TV.

ALL NETFLIX STREAMING DEVICES CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO TV:

You may not be able to hear the sound of some of the movies or TV shows you are streaming from Netflix due to the incorrect audio output selected for your audio selection. You will need to change the surround sound to something other than 5.1 Dolby Digital in the audio settings of your device. Choose an audio setting other than 5.1. The issue will be resolved and Netflix will have sound.

RESET ALL COMPONENTS TO GET SOUND FROM NETFLIX:

However, if that doesn’t work, try disconnecting your modem and router for 30 seconds, resetting the device you’re using, and restarting your TV. Sometimes this “refresh” of all components will fix the issue, and you will get sound from Netflix.

NETFLIX does not support surround sound:

If you hear No sound on Netflix when streaming Netflix through a surround sound component connected to your TV, go into the settings of the component and change the audio setting to something else besides 5.1. When you change the audio setting to something other than 5.1, you will hear Netflix.

NETFLIX IS UNAVAILABLE ON APPLE TV:

Turn on surround sound in Apple TV 4’s Audio and Video settings, Surround Sound, Best Quality Available. The Stereo audio setting may solve the problem if Best Quality Available does not. Now you should be able to hear sound on your Apple device since this should fix the issue with Netflix not getting sound.

NETFLIX IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE PLAYSTATION:

You can do this by going to the PlayStation home screen, then going to Settings, Sound Settings, Audio Output Settings, and choosing the cable you are using to connect the PlayStation to the TV. You can also use the X button to cancel the selection. Press X after selecting Audio Input Connector/SCART/AV MULTI to save the settings, then retry Netflix. Go to Manual, then select Linear PCM 2, if you have selected HDMI cable. The selected channels are CH 44.1 kHz & Linear PCM 2, Ch 48 kHz. Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital should not be checked. You should now be able to play Netflix on your Playstation with the sound working.

Netflix has provided the following important information:

Make sure you select 5.1 Dolby within the Audio & Subtitles menu during playback if 5.1 Dolby is available in the movie or TV show you are watching.

Please note that not all episodes or seasons of TV shows supported by 5.1 will have 5.1.

Netflix is, however, compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 10.

You can check your device’s support for 5.1 audio by searching for a Netflix original with 5.1 audio.

You may need to enable this feature if it is not available or your device may not support it.
