How To Program A DIRECTV Remote Control

A DIRECTV remote control can be programmed in the following manner.

TV, Audio component, Blu-ray player, DVD player, VCR, and Blu-ray players can be controlled with your DIRECTV Universal Remote.

The following steps can be followed if you have an HD DVR or HD receiver:

Use your remote to select MENU.
Click on Settings & Help.
Click on Settings.
Select the remote control.
To program a device, select the Program Remote option.
Programming your remote is as simple as following the instructions on the screen.

Note: If your remote is not listed, or you need additional codes, use the code lookup tool to the right to find the 5-digit code for your device.

Here are the steps you need to take if you have a standard DVR or SD receiver:

To access the menu, press the MENU button.
Choose Parents Favs & Setup.
Select the System Setup option.
You can choose remote control or remote.
Program a remote by selecting Program Remote followed by the device you wish to program.
