You can use the RCA Universal remote to operate multiple devices including TVs, Blu-ray players, and AV receivers, eliminating the need for several different remote controls. The RCA remote is compatible with all home theater equipment and devices. The RCA Universal remote lets you use just one remote to control multiple devices at the same time. RCA universal remotes can be used with any device in your home theater by programming them with each device individually.
RCA Universal remotes can be programmed in three ways
Method 1. Automatic Programming Method
Method 2. Manual Programming Method
Method 3. Auto Code Search Manual Programming Method
Make sure all the cables are connected and all the components are turned on before we begin. Next, check that the remote’s batteries are functioning.
Automatic RCA Universal Remote Programming
Here is a code search method you can use if you cannot locate the code for your device:
Step 1: Turn your device on.
Step 2: Hold down the “CODE SEARCH” button until the indicator light turns off, then release it.
Step 3: The VCR, TV, or cable button must be pressed and released. AUX programming is performed first by pressing and releasing the AUX button, then by pressing the type of device you wish to program.
Step 5: To turn off the device, press the “ON/OFF” button repeatedly. The “ON/OFF” button may need to be pressed a few hundred times if your code is near the end of the list.
Step 6: Upon the shutdown of your device, press and release the “ENTER” button.
Step 7: You can test your device by pressing a frequently used button like “PROGRAM UP/DOWN” or “VOLUME UP/DOWN”. You can repeat step 1 through 6 if the device does not respond.

RCA Universal remote programming using Auto Code Search method
Step 1: The remote must be turned on in order to operate the device.
Step 2: Hold down the “CODE SEARCH” button until the indicator light illuminates, then release.
Step 3: The device key corresponding to the equipment you wish to control with the remote (TV, VCR/DVD, DVD, etc.) should be pressed and released. A blinking icon appears on the screen.
Step 4: Press the ON/OFF key once and point the remote at the device. A few seconds delay separates each code sent by the remote for the specified component. While the remote is being sent, keep the component in focus.

Step 6: You can identify your device code by using Code Retrieval as described below.
How to retrive RCA Remote Codes
Following the steps below will help you determine which code is compatible with your universal remote control if you programmed it using one of the “Code Search” methods. You can save a lot of time if you need to program the remote again by finding the actual code and writing it down.

Step 2: You need to press and release the device key that matches the equipment code you wish to retrieve (TV, VCR/DVD, DBS/CABLE, etc). A blinking signal will appear on the screen.
Step 3: “CODE SEARCH” is pressed and released. This will turn off the indicator light.
Step 4: From 0 to 9, press the number keys until the indicator light blinks.
Step 5: Your first digit of your code is the one that causes your indicator light to blink.
Step 6: You will need to repeat Step 4 as needed until you have retrieved all 3 digits of your code.

Only a few models offer the Sleep Function. A time interval between 1 and 99 minutes can be programmed to automatically turn off the TV.
Step 1: Release the “SLEEP” key after holding it for a few seconds. You will see the indicator light remain on.
